A shooting incident was reported outside rapper and R&B artist Chris Brown’s home in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, according to a report by TMZ. Brown was not involved in the incident and is believed to have not been present at the time.
According to TMZ, law enforcement sources confirmed that police were called to the property at approximately 4:00 PM following reports of a possible shooting outside the residence.
TMZ reports that a female caller alerted authorities, describing the suspect as a Black male, approximately 35 years old, who allegedly fired at her vehicle during the altercation.
In dispatch audio obtained by TMZ, officers were heard being directed to the Tarzana address with a description of the suspect’s clothing at the time of the incident.
When officers arrived, they interviewed both parties involved. According to TMZ’s sources, the male suspect told police that the woman had refused to leave the area, which led to an argument. The suspect further alleged the confrontation escalated when the woman drove her vehicle over his foot, after which he fired shots at her car.
Law enforcement sources, as cited by TMZ, confirmed the male suspect was taken into custody at the scene and arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Public Information Office told TMZ that the weapon used was a CO2-style air gun — not a conventional firearm — and that the man arrested was not Chris Brown. Officials also clarified that the shooting did not occur inside the residence or on the property itself, but on the public street outside the home.
Representatives for Chris Brown had not responded to requests for comment at the time of TMZ’s report.
